Message from the Director

Welcome to the Center for Information Assurance Education at The University of Alabama in Huntsville! The purpose of the Center is to oversee educational offerings in the field of Information Assurance, an area which continues to grow in scope and importance in this era of electronic information storage.

We currently plan to offer a Graduate Certificate program in Information Assurance, starting in Fall 2003. This certificate will contain courses offered by the Computer Science and Electrical & Computer Engineering. Details on the various options are being worked out during the Summer, and the finished product will offer students the opportunity to gain the academic background necessary to pursue a career in Information Assurance.

Goals for the Center are to achieve National Security Agency (NSA) endorsement as a Center of Academic Excellence in this field, and to obtain federal funding to support students who wish to pursue a career in this field. The Academic Affairs Council has been established, and will be augmented with an Advisory Council later in the year.

We look forward to your enquiries - call the School of Graduate Studies at (256)824-6002 or one of the Faculty Liaisons listed on the Academic Affairs Council page.
